Documentation

Passports and visas.  When I first heard that we would need a passport and visa, I assumed they were the same thing, obviously I am not an regular international traveler.  Finisterre Vision was recently formalized as a new organization in PNG.  This was an answer to prayer as we (the organization) has been trying to get this completed for some time.  This formalization now allows us to apply for visas into the country. Lorie and I have passports but the kids will be getting theirs soon.  I filled out all the documentation and we went to Walmart for some passport photos.  Greer and Belle...

Little Belle

Praise the Lord we have been blessed with such a sweet little girl!  Belle is our only girl and 2 years ago she came down with RSV.  She was hospitalized for one night and two days.  Since that original occurrence she has only had an increase in the frequency of asthmatic attacks  She has also been on MANY different medications to help her breathe. Over a month ago Belle had a bronchoscopy procedure performed.  The Doctor used a camera and looked inside her lungs as well as her upper airway.  They also flushed her lungs and cultured the liquid that they extracted from the procedure.  She...

Shepherd’s Conference

This week is Shepherds Conference! It has been 2 years since I was last at this conference and I am looking forward to going. There are many things at this conference: Fellowship, books, food, biblical teaching, singing, and In & Out Burger. There is however one predominant theme that pervades Shepherds… The Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the Gospel (The good news of sinners offered reconciliation to God by the work of Jesus on their behalf) that makes everything else (fellowship, food, singing, etc…) a joy. Without the Gospel this would be hollow Bible teaching conference...

Keep On Trucking

The single greatest tool that we will use for logistics in PNG is our vehicle. It will be used for hauling goods, storing goods, transporting people, guarding from theft, and driving between cities/jungles.With such an important role I have been spending a good amount of time researching what vehicle would best at keeping us on the road so we can keep our missionaries supplied in the bush. It has been exciting to work through this and I am thankful to The Lord for bringing people into my life to help with the research, without them I would be shooting in the dark. Now ask yourself: When was...

Theology 1

It has been a joy to finish up TH605 (Theology 1).  I had the opportunity to write a research paper on the Canon of Scripture.  It had not given much thought to this topic in the past, but I wanted to understand how the Bible that we hold today came to be.  After researching, I am only more convinced of the Scripture that we have today as being God’s Word.  If you have had a desire to understand the Canon, or don’t even know what a Canon is; let me know, I would love to send this paper to you.  I would hope that it would be an encouragement to you.   Image by: Naval...

January Update

Happy New Year, and welcome to 2014!  Below is a helpful verse to think on regarding missionaries and their ultimate priority:  Romans 10:14-15 14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” January has been a month of provision, testing, and enduring.  We had the opportunity to move into another family’s home this month:  The Yates. ...
