Happy New Year, and welcome to 2014! Below is a helpful verse to think on regarding missionaries and their ultimate priority: Romans 10:14-15
14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”
January has been a month of provision, testing, and enduring. We had the opportunity to move into another family’s home this month: The Yates. The husband, Smedly is an elder at Grace Bible Church as well as a Director for Finisterre Vision. They are a family of 7 and we are a family of 5… put those together and you have a house of constant excitement! We have enjoyed the opportunity to have dinner together on a very regular basis, and cooking for so many people has been a joy. Lorie has also had great opportunities to interact with Smedly’s wife Janet. It has been nothing short of encouraging for us to be with them in this season.
We were given a great opportunity this month to dig into Belle’s Asthma. She continues to have occasions where she has difficulty breathing brought on by slow onset relating to allergies. We have met with multiple doctors as well as moved forward with some additional testing to rule out possible things that cannot be seen externally. We are planning to have her undergo a bronchoscope procedure this next month. In that procedure they will probe down her lungs to inspect for anything that could be causing her asthmatic episodes outside of allergens. The doctors do not suspect that anything will turn up but they do want to rule this out before we go to PNG.
Jeremy is on the backside of his class in GBI and continues daily in our logistics preparation for the field. Lorie is working on getting us fully moved into the house as well as homeschooling Greer. Belle is our little princess, it is not uncommon to find her changing her princess dresses throughout the day. Greer has been doing well with math, reading, and writing. Knox is growing before our eyes and is now heavier than Belle. He really enjoys watching and engaging in battles with swords.
Praise God we have seen only continued support come in for PNG! The current support numbers can be seen at the website: jeremyandlorie.com at the bottom of the page.
- Initial Sending: 76%
- Monthly Support: 35%
If you would like to pray for us, there are some items below.
- Praise God that He has brought more reoccurring asthmatic episodes into Belle’s life recently. As a result we have met with other doctors and are learning how to better diagnose, and treat it when it occurs.
- Pray for clarity on a departure date. We have a desire to have Belle’s asthma better managed before we leave. This will delay us as it will take a few months of occurrences to have a better grasp on this.
- Pray for joyful hearts as we diligently continue to prepare to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Finisterre Mountains of PNG.
- Praise God that our support has increased! We have only seen the Lord’s provision in how and where support has come in. Pray that we would be dependent on his timing, and diligent to inform people about PNG.
We are joyful and excited for what is ahead – Lord willing we will be in a foreign country armed with the Gospel in a couple months!
