Gather around friends. Its time to share a short ant story. Since we arrived in Madang there have been ants. As Dr. Seuss would say we have seen small ones, big ones, long ones, short ones, black ones and red ones. They are everywhere and get into everything. They are the scavengers of the ground here in PNG.
Our back house has always had these large red ants on it. The ants walk around the outside walls like they own the place. They had been climbing a tree close to the house, crossing one of the small limbs like a bridge to get on the roof. So I decided to cut the smaller limbs off the tree that touched the roof to stop them. The next day I went out to look and they were still there, climbing between a 5/8″ gap between a large limb and the roof. I was shocked to say the least.
So I decided to cut a small notch out of the limb thus leaving a 2″ gap between the limb and the roof of the house. I was confident that I had won the battle of the ants! The next day they were at it again but this time they built a bridge with themselves! These ants are persistent, creative and if you get close they stop what they are doing to look at you. I guess the limb is coming down but before I do that I took a few pictures for friends back home. It is no wonder God uses ants as a rebuke to a slothful man. They are busy, diligent creatures.
“Go to the ant, O sluggard, Observe her ways and be wise.”
Proverbs 6:6
So thankful God is watching over you guys. You’ve been having ants invade we have had wasps invade our pool. We lucky have salt water so they die, but the granddaughters hate when they fly down while we are swimming. We have never had wasps problems before so this is new for us.
