God’s Word

God’s Word

If you have a Bible in your language; it is all of God’s grace.  You have in print what countless people in ages past did not.  We can so easily become numb to the cost of having a Bible in our language.  The men who preserved it risked torture, imprisonment, and death to preserve and translate God’s Word into the common language of the day. My Bible reading today was in Joshua 8.  Israel had just been defeated by the city of Ai because of one man’s disobedience to God, by taking possessions from Jericho (Chapter 7).  After this person was addressed Israel fought against Ai...

Apparent Obstacles in the Path

Like all adventures, you are always heading towards something but don’t know all the things you will encounter along the way.  Lorie and I have found this to be true as we continue towards the goal of getting to Papua New Guinea.  There have been obstacles along our path (like visa delays) and at the same time there have been continual moments of encouragement (training, meeting with friends, family, & supporters).  It is encouraging to know that God has made these things to “work for our good” (Romans 8:28).  Then again, in light of Romans 8:28 I don’t think...

Free Fundraisers for Team PNG

One of the families in our team posted some free, creative ways to support Team PNG. I wanted to pass it along because it’s a way to contribute to supporting the team, by what you already spend money on! If you use Amazon or shop at Fry’s you can get involved! Follow the steps below to find out how. 1. AMAZON SMILE Team PNG The Amazon Smile program allows anyone to send a small percentage (0.5%) of their eligible Amazon purchases to a non-profit organization. Our sending church has set up an account for our team. If you buy things on amazon anyway, please use the link below to...

Lehman Family Update: The plane left the runway…

The last 2 months have felt so packed with blessings, hardship, excitement, and momentum towards Papua New Guinea.  With the speed that we are approaching our desired departure I can almost hear the sound of kids clamoring on the jet as we head to PNG.  Then again, that will be a 14 hour flight so it may go from joyful clamoring to a little crazy. Lorie has been enjoying her time with the kids being a dedicated mommy; she is an excellent homeschool teacher as well.  She has been taking the kids to swim lessons – that has been fun to watch the kids (lots of tears).  Lorie has also had a great...

Romans 8:1–4

Romans 8:1–4

Last week I had the opportunity to preach at a mens retreat, along with 14 others.  Grace Bible Church has a class called “H3” where men are trained in introductory theology, as well as sermon preparation.  Although I was not in H3 this year I did have to present a sermon for my Hermeneutics class.  It was so encouraging to hear God’s word from 14 other men.  I was both encouraged, convicted, and brought to God’s grace in the Gospel. My text was Romans 8:1-4.  It was a robust passage for me, and I can recall at least 3 times that I broke down in tears when I studying...
